Find Cabell Released Inmate Mugshots

A mugshot of a released Cabell County inmate is tied to an arrest or correctional intake, not to proof of guilt or the final case result. The Cabell County booking photo may remain in an agency file after a person leaves the active jail search. Western Regional Jail is state operated, so its ordinary custody photograph belongs with West Virginia corrections rather than a county jail gallery. Other images may come from the agency that made the arrest, a dated news report, or a court-linked record. Booking photos are not republished in a gallery; the official sources stay in control.

Cabell Released Mugshots Are Records

A Cabell County booking photograph records appearance at intake. WVDCR policy says intake creates front, left-profile, and right-profile photographs and uses the front view in the OIS header. Its public-information policy separately lists a file photograph among releasable offender-record fields, subject to redaction and legal exemptions. That makes a request for the ordinary front-view photograph the strongest Cabell County path after a person no longer appears in an active jail product.

The Cabell County photo and the release event prove different facts. A booking image shows that an image was associated with an intake record. It does not prove the charge was sustained, show the current case disposition, or establish the date and method of release. Pair the photograph with the correct Cabell County court case and WVDCR release record when identity or timing matters. The release record can supply the actual date and time, method of discharge, and destination.

Western Regional Jail and Correctional Facility is operated by WVDCR and serves several counties. The Cabell County Sheriff may hold an arrest or transport record it created, yet it is not the custodian of the WRJCF booking file. Sending the request to the creator of the exact photo avoids a common wrong-office delay.

Cabell Released Mugshot Access Channels

No single gallery covers every Cabell County custody path. A recently visible Cabell County jail detail, the WVDCR file, a creator agency, and a state-prison result each have different scope. Commercial collections and Cabell County news reports may preserve copies, but neither source can substitute for the official photo or prove a later release.

VINELink belongs outside the photo column. It is a custody-status and notification system, not an official Cabell County mugshot gallery. GettingOut is used for communications and visitation, not a release-photo lookup. Labeling either service as a sheriff mugshot app would misstate what the research found.

Note: A source can preserve an old image after release, but the image alone does not establish current status or the final disposition.

Cabell Mugshots After Roster Removal

The WVDCR gateway offers a jail offender search and Daily Incarcerations. Daily Incarcerations is an admissions and current-incarceration product, not a release-photo archive. No official rolling Cabell County recent-release feed was identified, and no official retention window for an old WRJCF person result was found. A person’s disappearance may reflect release, transfer, lag, correction, data conversion, a different identifier, sealing, or expungement.

For a recent case, inspect the live jail detail and match the person with more than a name. If a front image is present, note the reporting facility and lookup time. Do not promise that it will remain online. The current search can change quickly, and WVDCR warns that its information may not show the true current location, release date, or status.

The absence of a release feed also means there is no sound way to build a photo gallery by watching names drop from the roster. A removal from a current list is not a release field. The Cabell County 24-Hour Releases page explains the official records fallback when someone needs to verify a same-day custody change.

Request a Cabell Booking Photo

Direct a Cabell County WRJCF custody-photo request to WVDCR. Name the person, provide date of birth and OID when known, and identify the date range and Western Regional Jail custody episode. Ask for the front-view file or booking photograph and for all reasonably segregable nonexempt portions. That wording tracks WVDCR’s public-field policy without demanding sensitive material such as victim information, presentence reports, or protected agency communications.

  1. Confirm the full name, aliases, date of birth, OID, and custody range.
  2. Identify Western Regional Jail and the Cabell County case when known.
  3. Ask for the ordinary front-view file or booking photograph.
  4. Request a native electronic copy and segregable nonexempt portions.
  5. Ask for a fee estimate before copies are made.
  6. Request the written legal basis for any withheld portion.

A request may also include the release date and time, method, destination, legal holding or release authority, and release-book entry. Those fields connect the image to the right event and reduce the risk of matching the wrong episode. Under West Virginia FOIA §29B-1-3, a reasonably specific request receives agency action as soon as practicable within the statutory maximum, excluding weekends and legal holidays. Reproduction fees may reflect actual copying cost.

Cabell Sheriff is the right office only for a photo or arrest record it created or holds. Huntington Police or the City may hold city-created material. The Huntington Legal Department FOIA route applies to those municipal records, not the WRJCF institutional booking file. Ask each creator only for its own material.

Cabell Mugshot Publication Limits

West Virginia Code §62-1-6a limits certain law-enforcement social-media publication of booking photographs for covered minor offenses unless an exception applies. The section also supplies a request-based removal process in specified outcomes, including certain dismissals, no-bills, acquittals, reversals, vacations, or nullifications. It does not make every booking photograph secret or decide every public-record request.

The agency definition in that section expressly excludes DCR and its subordinate organizations. As a result, the social-media restriction should not be presented as a blanket WVDCR photo-removal rule. A Cabell Sheriff or Huntington Police social post, a WVDCR institutional record, and a court expungement must each be analyzed through the rule that actually covers that source.

The official booking-photo statute appears in the captured page below. It shows why the covered agency, type of publication, offense, and case outcome all matter.

Cabell County released inmate mugshot publication law
The statute provides a focused social-media rule and removal process rather than a universal photo ban.

No official West Virginia anti-pay-to-remove commercial mugshot statute was identified in the bounded official-code review. That finding should remain narrow. It does not endorse commercial publication, establish that a caption is correct, or replace privacy, defamation, copyright, sealing, and platform rules.

Public-record limit: Cabell County Released Inmates is not a consumer reporting agency. Mugshot information may not be used for employment, housing, credit, insurance, tenant screening, background checks, or any other FCRA-covered purpose.

Cabell Mugshots in News Reports

A reputable news report or official agency release may preserve an arrest photograph after the current WVDCR result changes. It remains a dated secondary channel. Check whether the caption names the photo’s source, whether the image relates to the same arrest, and whether the report predates a dismissal, acquittal, sentence change, release, or expungement.

Commercial photo collections require even more care. A page may carry an old image, copy a name incorrectly, omit the source, or fail to reflect the final case result. Treat the image only as a lead to the creator. Do not pay a removal vendor as though it were a government remedy, and do not use a commercial caption as evidence that a person was released.

Local press coverage can be checked against the Cabell Magistrate, Circuit, or Huntington Municipal Court layer that handled the matter. The exact signed order comes from the proper clerk. A court result explains what happened to the charge, while the WVDCR record explains the custody release. Neither fact should be inferred from a photograph.

Note: Record the publication date and photo attribution before relying on a news image, then verify the named case through an official record.

Cabell Mugshot Removal and Expungement

Cabell County expungement can change public access to the records tied to a booking photo. West Virginia has separate paths for certain acquittals, dismissals, diversion, deferred adjudication, eligible misdemeanors, and eligible nonviolent felonies. Waiting periods and exclusions vary. The Cabell County court order controls, and the affected agencies later carry out their duties under that order.

After a valid expungement, an official search may lawfully return no record. That does not mean the prior intake never occurred, and it is not permission to republish a sealed image from an old copy. Direct access, correction, or compliance questions to the court and the agency that controls the image. Juvenile photographs and identity records have separate protections and are outside an adult released-inmate photo search.

The social-media removal process under §62-1-6a is also distinct from an expungement petition. A person seeking removal should identify the exact source: an agency social post, a WVDCR file, a city-created record, a news story, or a commercial collection. Then provide the case outcome or court order that applies to that source. Broad demands sent to an office that never created the image are unlikely to solve the problem.

Booking photograph
An image created during an arrest or correctional intake.
File photograph
The WVDCR public-field term for an offender-record photo, subject to lawful limits.
Expungement
A court process that can restrict public access to qualifying records.
Creator agency
The office that made or controls the requested image.

The cleanest Cabell County photo finding states the source, custody episode, image date if known, and later case or release record. It avoids treating the face in a file as a current status report.
